The University Enterprise Zone at the University of Essex uses their passion for innovation to help new businesses to grow. University Enterprise Zones are designated by the Government as centres for nurturing new businesses, as part of its wider strategy of developing and commercialising ideas to benefit the UK economy. At Essex, the UEZ team provides funding, business support, and expertise to new digital and creative companies in Essex and across the UK. To achieve that, they needed marketing support to target, engage and inform budding entrepreneurs and set them on course for business success.
- Marketing for investment platform
- Annual reports
- Case studies
- Events promotion
- Investment readiness workshops
- Pitch deck reviews
- One-on-one sessions with entrepreneurs
The focus was on reaching the target audience: investors and entrepreneurs. Our strategists worked closely with the UEZ team to deliver results across their four areas of innovation: Space to Grow, Angels@Essex, Studio X, and Wifi Everywhere. We operated across platforms, producing strategically targeted content for their website and events. We also delivered workshops on investment readiness. These offered valuable marketing and business expertise to their entrepreneur clients.
To adapt to COVID-19 restrictions, the UEZ workshops had to move online. We adjusted the messaging and event descriptions, as well as hosting webinars ourselves. In turn, this made Space to Grow business support and workshops much more accessible.
The University Enterprise Zone’s messaging and mission connected with entrepreneurs and investors on a global stage. Their investment platform raised £7,4m, and the workshop programme attracted 1240 attendees. Overall, more than 200 businesses were supported. These successes were highlighted in the reports that we produced, which will continue to draw new interest to Angels@Essex and the UEZ initiatives.
“The team at Creative Quills have a talent for working with and marketing to innovative businesses. At Angels@Essex, they have helped us bridge the gap between businesses and investors, with content that is well researched, cleverly targeted, and engaging to the reader. They clearly understand the needs and drivers for these organisations and create content that encourages them to act.”
